Candy Spender is an artist and designer, who has been designing and making jewellery for over twenty five years in Melbourne, Australia. Her work has been at the forefront of Australian costume jewellery, often appearing in mainstream 'glossy' publications and media events. Stocked by International fashion houses such as Browns in London, and several galleries in North America, as well as an exclusive fashion boutique in Hong Kong, she has recently pared back her wholesale operation so as to be able to concentrate on one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces commissions.
Cross-cultural traditions, and her background in painting, graphic design and astrology bring freedom and Spirit to her jewellery pieces. With an unorthodox approach she mixes semi-precious, vintage and contemporary crystal and glass stone and beads to produce inspirational and directional pieces.

Milk Lines
Dimensions 54x32x0.7mm on a 45cm chain.
This is a new body of work exploring the complex network of breast ducts and lobules. The experience of breast feeding and sustaining the life of my child has initiated my exploration of these sites on the female body. I have been drawn to three dimensional medical images of the lactiferous ducts within the complex structure of the upper body. Abstracting these images to create textures on the metal surface, brings to the outside the beauty and intricacy of the inner workings. My intention for the pieces is to express the fragility and beauty of the breasts ducts. Worn close to this external site focus is drawn to the inner architecture of the female form.

Katheryn Leopoldseder
Sterling Silver Leaf Print pendant on cable. retail value $210
Artist Statement:
Even though the materials, forms and techniques that I use vary enormously, there are a few themes that carry throughout my work. An inescapable compulsion to use techniques and processes that are repetitive and physically demanding is intensified by the desire to make something beautiful from raw unglamorous materials. I am consistently drawn to exploring aspects of my life and memory through my jewellery. Attempting to create something that breathes restoration, beauty and resurrection into those moments otherwise suppressed in history and in the heart.
I achieved Honors in Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT in 2004 and currently work full-time as a gold and silversmith from my studio in the beautiful Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne. I have exhibited extensively throughout Australia.

Kaz Madigan
Scarf woven by Kaz Madigan from rayon chenille and cotton. Price $85.00
It has an interesting and appropriate history as the warp was dyed by WeaveCast and WeaveZine editor Syne Mitchell in the US, then woven by myself. So it has a link of creation with people who have never met each other and perhaps it will go to another woman in the link.

Our First Neck Piece
We are setting up an exhibition and sale of scarves, wraps and conpemporary neckpieces for National Breast Cancer Foundation. We all know the horrific challenges women face with this disease, so we are here to raise money for a wonderful organization. So please donate a hand made scarf or wrap, it can be woven, knitted crocheted, stitched printed what ever you like. We are also looking for contemporary neck pieces as well from contemporary jewellers to also donate and join the exhibition. But remember the object is to sell the scarves so think and challenge yourself to make wonderful neck wear for sale. Let raise lots of money to rid the world of this horrible disease.
The exhibition and sale will be held in Canberra at Craft ACT in August 2008.
