Dimensions 54x32x0.7mm on a 45cm chain.
This is a new body of work exploring the complex network of breast ducts and lobules. The experience of breast feeding and sustaining the life of my child has initiated my exploration of these sites on the female body. I have been drawn to three dimensional medical images of the lactiferous ducts within the complex structure of the upper body. Abstracting these images to create textures on the metal surface, brings to the outside the beauty and intricacy of the inner workings. My intention for the pieces is to express the fragility and beauty of the breasts ducts. Worn close to this external site focus is drawn to the inner architecture of the female form.

Artist Statement:
Even though the materials, forms and techniques that I use vary enormously, there are a few themes that carry throughout my work. An inescapable compulsion to use techniques and processes that are repetitive and physically demanding is intensified by the desire to make something beautiful from raw unglamorous materials. I am consistently drawn to exploring aspects of my life and memory through my jewellery. Attempting to create something that breathes restoration, beauty and resurrection into those moments otherwise suppressed in history and in the heart.
I achieved Honors in Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT in 2004 and currently work full-time as a gold and silversmith from my studio in the beautiful Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne. I have exhibited extensively throughout Australia.
